Love Lillaboase. It’s another hidden gem of mine. Location: When I first decided to go, I got lost because I foolishly exited the UBahn station from the wrong side. Handjerystrasse is LONG… I turned a 3 minute walk into a 20 minute walk… UGH. TIp: Get out of the U9 Station Friedrich Wilhelm Platz from the Schmilijanstrasse exit. When you get out walk straight ahead on Schmilianstr, and the first corner on your right is Handjerystr. Literally a stone’s throw from the train station. Venue: I have to call this a venue, because Lillaboase offers so many things. The entire building is 5 floors and owned by Lillaboase. There are 3 levels(incl. EG) for kindergarten/kinderbetreuung, 1 level for spa services and 1 level for the family-oriented restaurant/café and a separate bar/lounge area just for adults to unwind and relax. BONUS: Restaurant/Café, Lounge, and Spa area have gorgeous natural lighting. Why? Because of the WALL to WALL Windows/terrace on each of these levels! You can watch snow fall, stars shine, sunsets… leaves fall… flowers bloom… I mean, this is a place for all seasons! And you can sit/smoke on the terraces. not that I smoke, but still… EXTRABONUS: if you have a kid you can hire a babysitter to watch them while you have a drink, eat dinner or get a massage/facial or any other spa service they offer. SPASERVICE: I came(TWICE!) for a full body massage with Amina. She is awesome… my back is way better these days… ask for her. end of story. The massage room was beautifully set up with candles, HEATED dark wooden floors, comfy massage table… beautiful natural light and sounds(soothing music during massagte. and when cd ended, you could hear the trickling water from a mini buddha fountain in the room. Everything was remarkably clean and cozy. SPASUGGESTION: They need to have a relaxation room so clients can lounge 15 – 30 mins before(if they arrive early) and/or after the massage in peace. maybe even take a quick nap on a couch or recliner or something. Not to mention some nice refreshments like a pitcher of fresh cucumber water, snacks… magazines, spare blankets, tea, wine… whatever. I made the same suggestion for Anna Fajt salon review… but the thing is that Lillaboase should really consider it since it is a huge place and may actually have the room to really pull this off. Doesn’t have to be a huge room… just a quiet and relaxing one so people feel pampered, can get dressed and leave at their leisure. Especially in winter… no one is in a rush to get back in the cold snow post-massage. Trust me. ALSO, they should have more people working there so I could relax upstairs longer after my massage.lol. It sucks that after my last massage, Amina had to then go and work downstairs in the café… I felt a bit rushed, which is not cool. But still enjoyed some quiet time in the café afterwards. There should be spa staff that is separate from gastronomy-staff… just my 2 cents. CAFE/RESTAURANT: Came here twice with my son, and once alone… not including once after my last massage session. It’s gorgeous and relaxing décor. I love the nostalgic, retro«Good Housekeeping» pics and the soothing piped-in jazz music(Sinatra, Nina Simone, etc.) The back part of the restaurant is really for families, with 1 awesome playroom for smaller children(up to 8 yrs I think.). That means, your child can play for free and be distracted… while you enjoy a nice meal or snack in peace… LOVEIT. DEFINITELY A PLACETOCONSIDERFORYOURCHILD’S BIRTHDAY. Especially for Winter babies, when you cant get away with having a fun party in the park/at the beach… ;-)) Last week there was a family party of some sort going on and it looked AWESOME and everyone was having a great time. My son was even given some candy. and we didn’t belong to the party. LOL. Very sweet. I have NOTYET eaten any food here, so I cannot comment on it. But the Chai teas really hit the spot, as do the german style cheesecake and apple pie. Tip: Ask them to warm up the apple pie and add a scoop of vanilla icecream… lol. Totally American, I know… but it tasted damned good. SUGGESTION: PLEASEADDFREEWI-FIACCESSFORGUESTS!!! How perfect would it be to make this my newest Starbucks, only more pleasant, more peaceful… and fun for my son as well? SNOOZLEBAR/LOUNGE– Looks swanky and nice. Havent had a drink here yet, but will prob check it out soon. I’d def suggest families or anyone else really, to check out this place…(Think: New Year’s…so you can have fun & drink with other adults @ lounge/bar, and your child can be taken care of/supervised by the staff on another floor, all at a fair price!!) Amazing concept… FINALVERDICT: Perfect for families, singles, dates(Snoozle Bar) and anyone in between. If I lived in the area, I’d def consider it as a Kindergarten for my son as well… lol. Too good to be true. all under one roof. ENJOY!
