Katz Orange

Relativ versteckt in einem Hinterhof liegt das Katz Orange. Dafür bietet es dann auf 2 Etagen in heimischer Wohnzimmer-​Atmodsphäre viel Platz, trotzdem sollte man unbedingt vorher reservieren!
Das Essen war von der Vorspeise bis zum Nachtisch der Hammer, vor allem die slow cocked Hauptspeisen, die leider immer mindestens 2 Personen bestellen müssen, haben es uns absolut angetan. Und das Beste: Auf Wunsch gibt es sogar Nachschlag!
Definitiv 5 Sterne!

Eine schmucker Laden, mit netten Design. Kundschaft international — anscheinend ist das Katz in einschlägigen amerikanischen Reiseführern gelistet. So wie auch die Bedienungen wohl mehr nach Ihren Fremdsprachenkenntnissen und Aussehen ausgewählt werden als der Fähigkeit Ihren Job professionell umzusetzen. Die Bedienungen können teilweise nicht erklären was man serviert bekommt (2x passiert). Von einer Beratung hinsichtlich des Weines habe ich dann mal abgesehen. War jetzt zum dritten Mal dort uns werde wohl nicht mehr dort einkehren. Das Preis-​Leistungsverhältnis Für Geschäftsessen kann ich das Katz nicht empfehlen. Schade.

This place was recommended to us by friends in Berlin and it was BY FAR one of my most favorite meals… ever! I wish they had a second location in NYC. We had the ‘candy on bone’ and I can’t stop thinking about it. The meat was perfectly cooked and they offer unlimited seconds. We also had pre-​dinner cocktails that were mixed to perfection, wine with dinner, and the bread pudding for dessert. Our waiter was delightful, and full of excellent recommendations. The building is very beautiful also, and the vibe inside is perfect for a date night or nice dinner with friends. Katz Orange was the highlight of our trip to Berlin and we will definitely be back!

Came here for silvester (new year’s dinner) which was. Well. Okay-​ish… I guess.
Several things came as a surprise (and i think quite well reflect the attitude)
— oversold
— bad music (reggae and rap for new years eve?.. Seriously? Life music was so loud and so unrelated to tbe cause that people started to leave at 23.50)
— people sitting at community tables were had to share all of their dishes with strangers (why would you make your guest do that?)
But yeah, the cocktails are nice, the place is beautiful

Wir waren als Gruppe mit 7 Personen dort und durchweg begeistert.
Kleine Karte mit gut zubereiteten Speisen. Pommes als Vorspeise etwas ungewöhnlich– aber lecker.
Zum Dessert war das Gurken Sorbet das Highlight.
Insgesamt eher hochpreisig, die coole Location im Hinterhof der Bergstraße überrascht dann aber alle.
Worauf man sich einlassen muss: Abends werden die Tische im Zweischichtsystem vergeben. Muss man wissen, wenn man um 19:00 kommt.

Alsooo… erstmal 25min aufn Tisch waren trotz Reservierung? Nicht schoen. dann ist der Service wirklich absolut nicht aufmerksam. rauemen Speisen weg obwohl noch offensichtlich klar ist, dass man noch nicht fertig ist und dann ist das Essen ganz okay aber nicht ueberragend. Preis Leistung ist nicht OK. dafuer macht der Laden was her. mehr Schein als Sein.

Och joa. Dit ist wieder einer dieser Sceneläden wo Restaurant und Bar… Party miteinander kombiniert werden. Es ist voll und gnadenlos überbucht…man sitzt sehr eng auf Gartenklappstühlen, dennoch gibt es live Musik die auf die Ohren geht. ausgefallene Örtlichkeiten und das Essen ist ebenso ausgefallen wie es dann auch lecker sein kann. Es fehlt ein bisschen Liebe hier und da, ganz besonders beim Essen. aber sowas geht bei so einer Massenunterhaltung auch einfach mal unter! Ist ok, mehr aber auch nicht.

I’m visiting Berlin, staying just around the corner from here. I finally walked in tonight at 6:15 and was seated directly. The setting is beautiful. Off the street through a courtyard. Two levels and they walked me to the far corner upstairs. Place was full by 7. Brought my white wine in a red wine glass. Not sure why but I drank it. Food was fabulous. I created my own menu of short-​ribs (melt in my mouth) with mashed sweet potatoes and cooked cabbage. Everything yummy. Definitely would recommend and come again.

So much has already been written. Loved the atmosphere, the friendliness and casual feeling associated with a tinge of luxury — when considering the wine list, which by the way is splendid.
Its a different way to dine and works well for any occasion

Liebes Kätzchen, wievielen Freunden und Bekannten habe ich dich eigentlich schon empfohlen seit ich das erste Mal bei dir war? Und wieviele haben sich die Lippen geleckt hernach?
You name it! Wie schön, dass es diesen Sommer mit uns beiden mal wieder geklappt hat, Lieblingssommerdate, das du bist! Wie gut es tut, dir durchs orangefarbene Fell zu streichen mit sonnenwarmen Händen und die Kühle deines schattigen Innenhofs zum willkommenen Anlass für den Apéritif zu nehmen — Aperol Sprizz natürlich in der Farbe deines Fells!
Später empfiehlst du Wein und hast schweren roten dabei, der gut zum Fleisch passt, aber ob der Hitze, sei nicht bös, greifen die meisten von uns zum Weissen oder bleiben beim Wasser, dass du nicht ausgehen lässt.
Du verwöhnst uns mit gedünsteten Spargelspitzen und Süsskartoffelwedges, mit Schinken und erfrischenden Kräuterdips — und ich freu mich, dass du das für uns auf den Tisch stellst, so dass sich jeder nach Herzenslust bedienen kann. Als es später ums Fleisch geht und du Pulled Pork und ich weiss nicht was für Rindfleisch kredenzt, ist es um den inneren Vegetarier geschehen. Aber der echt, der mit uns am Tisch sitzt bekommt von dir eine vegetarische Alternative, die ihn strahlen macht. Verzeih, dass wir vergessen hatte, das anzukündigen!
Für uns hast du dazu Salate am Start und ein Kartoffelpüree, das mich trotz der Hitze löffeln lässt und nachnehmen obwohl ich ahne, dass da noch Nachtisch! Wie recht ich doch hatte: Einen Cheesecake hast du dir für uns ausgedacht, unsere Naschkatzen zu verwöhnen, erdnussig der Boden, cremig der Körper und dazu eine rote Beerensauce und — du wärst nicht du, hättest du nicht noch Birnensorbet dazugesellt.

Searching for good restaurants when international can be very, very difficult. As I soon found out, when I was looking for a place that was decently-​nice, reasonable-​priced, and light-​on-​the-​ice (I don’t know what that means either, I just wanted it to rhyme).
Tip #1: Quaint, cute interior. It’s nestled at the end of a little courtyard.
Tip #2: Accepts online reservations, which is especially useful for foreign travelers like me with no cellular plan.
Overall: Delicious food, good vibes. Reasonable fancy while still keeping a homey environment.

Our last night Berlin and so happy we made it to Katz Orange for dinner. Impeccable service! Food was great! We started with the sashimi & calamari dishes. Followed by asparagus, French fries & homemade ketchup, polenta, and the Candy On A Bone lamb and pork dishes. It was truly delightful and filling! We topped it off with two desserts: 1) peanut cheesecake (yes, as in peanut-​butter!) with banana ice cream and 2) the rhubarb crumble. We really wanted to lick the dessert plates too.

My companion and I were here earlier for a dinner date. Long story short, it was a great evening.
We had a reservation for 18:30. The reservation system was easy; it was all done online. Several hours before our reservation, they called me to reconfirm. Oh, and they speak English, not that they needed to, but it’s definitely appreciated.
They have a wide selection of interesting cocktails, as well as wines, but since I find myself in more restaurants that have good wines than good cocktails, I took the opportunity to get a cocktail this time. The Turkish coffee martini was amazing; I especially liked the cardamom touch.
We also took two items from the dishes «To Share». The quail leg confit went very well with the sauce it came with, and the onsen egg was also interesting texture-​wise. However, I don’t really see that as a dish to share. The quail leg confit could be shared easily, as finger food, but the onsen egg was a little mis-​classified in my opinion.
We took their signature dish, the Duroc Pork Katz Orange. We also ordered the polenta and fries as sides. The pork was very tender; you only needed a small fork to tear it apart. The polenta was well done, or rather, perfectly done, and the fries were great!
We were hungry enough to get some desserts: my companion took the sorbet, while I got the small cheese platter, which I paired with a glass of Pedro Ximenez.
This is a hipster place, that has a little bit of luxury. The servers were quite attentive, with the exception of one person. The girl working the upper floor, who was wearing a white shirt. She needed to listen well to the customers. She was the one who took our dessert order. My companion wanted the three sorbets, but it seemed that she only took two sorbets. She also didn’t understand what Pedro Ximenez was. Was she just a trainee? She definitely can improve. Maybe I should have spoken in German, but then again, every other staff member who I talked to responded in English even when I tried speaking in German.
The toilet was interesting. There was a lot of graffiti. Some of them were unappetizing. Good thing I went after the meal.
Overall, it’s still a 5-​star experience. There were some interesting points that I think this restaurant can improve on, but overall it’s a positive experience.

Walking in from a quiet street, you emerge into a magically intimate courtyard filled with fresh vibed up-​and-​comers consuming excellent cocktails and meat candy.
The appetizers (burrata, ceviche) were delicious, the eggplant addicting, and the ribs mouthwatering. Good wine recommendations from our waiter, who unfortunately misled us in several circumstances (probably due to something lost in translation), and a perfect homegrown negroni.
I’d take friends and business here any night.

This place is gorgeous, there’s no going around that. It has that rare beauty that is both old world and new, quiet and understated and then all of a sudden cheery and hip. I wandered into this unassuming courtyard one day in Mitte and vowed to go back.
And I went back in style. Friday night without reservations at this buzzing place meant that my friend and I were at the bar for about 20 minutes. But we received incredible service. Everyone, from the hostess to the bar men to the waitresses, were very helpful and friendly. I started with a light champagne and my friend got the mezcal mule, which was deep and spicy and highly recommended.
Our appetizers were delicious as well. I’ve never had calamaretti so tender and fresh; the dill and fava beans tasted like spring in Berlin (and no, I cannot eat any more asparagus here, there’s too much this season or something). The grilled prawn actually convinced me that guacamole can work with maracuya — it was also a fresh dish, brighter tasting than the luxuriously succulent calamaretti.
We finally moved to a table and had the whole living room to admire. It really feels like you’re at a big ski lodge party with very attractive Berliners. My partner got the slow roasted beef and I got the tuna tartare. Here was the massive fail for me. While my friend adored his meat, I suffered through what must have been the most mediocre tartare in my life. I instantly regretted not getting an entrée instead of the appetizer; maybe they would have put more creativity into the entrees? This tartare came with a completely plain salad and also boiled carrots and potatoes. It literally have a bad name to all tartare — and I’ve had incredible tartare in overall mediocre restaurants, so this was a huge shock considering what I was expecting from Katz Orange based on the earlier appetizers.
I managed to focus my attention on our lovely bottle of red, the great atmosphere, friendly hip crowd, and then the gorgeously presented and subtle tasting peanut cheesecake that left me feeling like all is good in the world.
Do come here for the cocktails, creative dishes, and wonderful service. Just don’t get that tartare.

Wir waren zu zweit an einem Werktag abends dort, d.h. das Restaurant war (zum Glück) nicht voll. Der Service war erstklassig: locker und professionell zugleich, der Kellner trug eine Cappy.
Das Essen war sehr gut und dem Preis angemessen, auch der Apperitif für 10 EUR war preislich gehoben, aber sein Geld absolut wert!
Empfehlen können wir das Duroc-​Schwein, das im Niedrigtemperatur-​Verfahren gegart wird und herrlich saftig und aromatisch ist. Dazu Kartoffel-​Stampf, grüné Bohnen, den Sud vom geschmorten Schwein — ein Träumchen!
Über das Ambiente braucht man nicht mehr viel zu sagen: wer sein erstes date hier stattfinden lässt, hat nix falsch gemacht!

Aufgrund guter Bewertungen waren wir kürzlich zu dritt abends im Katz Orange. Den Tisch hatten wir online reserviert, wir kamen pünktlich und wurden auch gleich zu unserem Tisch geführt. Das Lokal hat eine schöné Athmosphäre, auch der Tisch war gemütlich, sodass wir uns auf einen schönen Abend gefreut haben.
Was uns leider überhaupt nicht gefallen hat:
Das Essen war für das gebotene deutlich zu teuer! Es gibt kein Hauptgericht unter 20 €, was prinzipiell ja in Ordnung wäre, wenn man denn entsprechende Qualität erhalten würde. Wir hatten ein Gemüse-​Orzotto, das relativ geschmacksneutral daher kam. Zudem beinhaltete das Gericht eigentlich nichts außer Gerste, Zucchini, Paprika. also nichts, was einen Preis über 20 € rechtfertigen würde. Das zweite Gericht kam (wie auch das Orzotto) von der Tageskarte: Entenbrust mit Rösti. Das Fleisch war gut, die Beilagen haben tatsächlich nach absolut nichts geschmeckt. Auch hier der Preis von ca. 25 € deutlich zu teuer.
Das schlimmste war jedoch, dass knapp 2 Stunden nach unserer Ankunft die «Hostess» kam, wir mögen jetzt bitte den Tisch räumen und an die Bar zu gehen, da die nächsten Gäste für den Tisch da waren. Das ganze natürlich auch nur auf Englisch, im hippen Berlin muss man ja kein deutsch mehr können.Wir hatten gerade den letzten Bissen unserer Nachspeise (Käseplatte) heruntergeschluckt und noch einmal neue Getränke bestellt. Wie man Gäste, die offensichtlich noch «mittendrin» sind und gerade erst neue Getränke geordert haben in einem Lokal dieser Preisklasse einfach herauskomplementieren kann, ist mir völlig unverständlich. Die Begründung der Dame war, wir hätten das ja wohl gewusst, stünde ja schließlich auf der Website (hier steht, dass ggf. und unter Umständen an stark frequentierten Abenden Tische doppelt vergeben werden können, wir wurden jedoch zu keiner Zeit darauf hingewiesen, dass wir mit Stoppuhr essen müssen weil eben unser Tisch für uns nur für 2 Stunden vorgesehen ist.) Wir haben uns letztlich standhaft geweigert den Tisch zu verlassen, sodass wir zähneknirschend sitzen bleiben durften bis unsere Gläser leer waren.
Selbst wenn das Essen gut gewesen wäre, ist diese Fließbandmentalität leider völlig inakzeptabel aber da auch das Essen sich definitiv nicht lohnt, kommen wir sicher nicht wieder. Gezahlt haben wir pro Person übrigens 70 € ohne Trinkgeld für Hauptgericht, ein geteiltes Dessert und Getränke

My brother in law gave us a gift certificate to eat here as a gift so we definitely indulged. We got the slow cooker lamb (for 2), two sides (French fries and root vegetables), the cheesecake, medium petit four dessert, three beers and a bottle of water. Everything was impeccable, but fair warning — the meat is pretty heavy and we practically rolled ourselves home from being so full. Without a gift certificate, we probably would have skipped dessert or only gotten one side to share between the 2 of us.
The atmosphere is amazing. Low lights, candle lit dinner, and a pretty little vase with flowers at every table. The service was great — our waitress was really polite and spoke perfect English. Our food came out really quickly.

Yes, it is far from cheap, and yes they charge for ketchup and mayo, but what can I say — I love the food and the posh atmosphere is also a fun change from the hipster

Stark gehyptes Restaurant, deswegen dachte ich man müsse das mal ausprobieren…
Im Nachhinein ist es eine coole Location, das Essen ist auch gut (aber nichts besonderes). Die Preise sind mMn. viel zu hoch und die Kellner teilweise unfreundlich ab einem bestimmten Punkt. Drinks sind gut.
Fazit: Habe den Besuch an dem Abend nicht direkt bereut, werde den Besuch jedoch nicht wiederholen.

It’s a hip restaurant. I’m not German, but I found this place quite local. We had couple of beers and white wines.
They recommended SLOW CUISINE but we didn’t feel like meat by then. So we ordered smoked salmon and a really nice salad (sweet and refreshing) as appetizer. Then we ordered 3 sides: roasted root vegetables, swede purée and fries with goose fat as main courses.
The dessert was pretty good. We had the selection of six chocolates /​cookies. I’d love to try the fruit wine marinated chocolate cake next time.
We had a reservation for 9:30pm. But we showed up an hour early and they kindly had us seated. The entrance was really pretty, though it was kind of confusing. The servers were really nice, helpful, and capable. We had a really good time here.

Amazing location, the restaurant is set in a beautiful building that was once a brewery.
The food is organic and there are some interesting combinations and fusions, otherwise mostly staple contemporary German food. The cocktails are great, but the wine list better. The restaurant is just pleasant and beautiful to sit in — a real treat and you can spend hours sauntering down to the bar for the last night cap.
The staff are disturbingly ALL goodlooking. But we are in Germany after all.
They only do dinner. Order all the sides if you can! Best to go in a big group.

Wir waren neulich im Katz Orange, um den Geburtstag meiner Schwiegermutter zu feiern.
Das Ambiente war sehr nett, der Tisch, an dem wir platziert wurden, war allerdings nicht so toll. Direkt am Eingang (mir war ziemlich kalt) und mitten im Raum, sodass alle Leute, inkl. Servicepersonal, sich an uns vorbei quetschen mussten.
Die Kellnerin war sehr nett, besonders zu meinem Hund, aber doch etwas verwirrt und nicht allzu gut informiert.
Die Cocktails fand ich lecker, aber für diesen einzigen Schluck doch sehr teuer (14 €), einige Getränke kamen einfach ewig nicht und wir hatten großen Durst.
Die Karte im Allgemeinen hörte sich sehr gut an, jedoch bin ich bei den Preisen fast vom Stuhl gefallen! Und wieso ist die vegetarische Vorspeise mit 13 € (Falafel) eigentlich am teuersten?
Geschmeckt hat es dennoch gut, besonders die Spare Ribs waren toll.
Meine Schwiegereltern nahmen als Hauptspeise beide den Zander, mein Freund und ich das Slow Food Lamm inkl. 2 Beilagen. Die Beilagen waren leider nicht ganz so gut, das Lamm hingegen war grandios! Sehr zart, aromatisch und die Portion war auch völli ausreichend.
Alles in allem hat uns das Essen sehr gut geschmeckt.
Auch die Nachspeise und die Käseplatte waren gut, aber die Portion doch recht schmächtig für den Preis.
Später gab es noch Live Musik, die toll war, aber einfach sehr laut. Gespräche waren nicht mehr möglich.
Das Fazit: Leckeres Essen, für die Preise erwarte ich allerdings etwas mehr. Sowohl beim Service, als auch bei den Sanitärräumen (ein WC defekt, Seife am Stück, Waschbecken quasi mitten im Restaurant) und vor allem den Portionen.

Got a four course dinner, and it was amazing. The fish — served as salad — was melting in the mouth, the soupe (pastinaken/​topinanbour) delicious, the main course great (duck), the desert good.
The service was really nice, knowledgeable about the menu and relax/​authentic (for such upscale restaurant).
Ambiance is cosy, with a lot of little details.

¹⁰⁄₁₀ pour ce restaurant, qu’on aurait d’ailleurs jamais dû connaître…explications. Weekend à Berlin, on cherche un endroit canon pour dîner…et toutes nos recherches nous mènent non, pas à Rome, mais à «La Soupe Populaire», mais voilà, puisqu’elle est populaire la soupe, ben c’est complet 6 à 8 semaines à l’avance…flûte de bique. Du coup on s’est dit «on y va quand même.on va réussir à snaker». Faux. On patiente au bar d’à côté, au Croco Bleu, mais rien à faire, le restaurant est complet. C’est là que la barman du Croco Bleu, en voyant 1) notre désarroi et 2) le regard de nos copines — sort son téléphone et passé un coup de fil. Il raccroche et nous annonce «guys, I’ve got something for you at a really nice place, if you go NOW, you might get a table…» PAF ! Du barman, et de son geste, j’aurais l’occasion d’en reparler sur la fiche du Croco Bleu en question. attention, festival d’étoiles, je préviens.
Le resto en question, c’était le Katz Orange ! En arrivant, pétage de cable N°1: c’est ouf ! Le resto est niché dans une vielle église ou un truc religieux du style… y a qu’à Berlin qu’on peut voir ça. On entre, pétage de cable N°2, la déco est ouf. entre quelque-​chose et un autre truc… je sais vraiment pas en fait, aucun point de comparaison (Berlin style I guess)…mais sachez que l’ambiance est top, digne d’un petit chalet de Saas-​Fee, et que tout le monde autour de nous est beaux, ah oui, et que ça sent bon !
Je vous résume les pétages de cables N° 3, 4, 5 et 6. Table magnifique, service aux petits soins, agneaux cuît 12 heures à basse T°, tendre comme du beurre, desserts gourmands, sélection de vins parfaite. 50EUR.

Fetzt! Von vorne bis hinten. Nur’n bißchen teuer. Dennoch, wir verbrachten einen zauberhaften Abend in einer traumhaft schönen Location.
Wir aßen das Degustationsmenü (Schinken, Feldsalat mit Entenleber, Topinambursuppe mit Ochsenbacke, Flank-​Steak mit Pilzen und Nußbutterstampfkartoffeln sowie Schokokuchen mit Sorbet und frischen Früchten). Von Gang zu Gang nahm der Genuss zu. Wirklich tolle Geschmackskompositionen, die aus der Küche zu uns kamen. Anstelle von Wein füllten wir unsere Bäuche mit den leckeren und selbstgemachten Limonaden. Bombe.
Alle Serviceangestellten waren professionell ohne aufgesetzt zu wirken. Wir fühlten uns umsorgt und gut aufgehoben.
Das Ambiente ist kaum zu beschreiben. Alles ist absolut stimmig. Wir haben uns auf Anhieb willkommen und heimelig gefühlt.
So sehr ich mich auch anstrenge, ich finde kein Haar in der Suppe. Selbst die Musik, die sehr dezent gespielt wurde, war liebevoll ausgewählt.
Fazit: m Katz Orange genießt man wirklich mit ALLEN Sinnen!

Location schön, Essen gut, aber leider völlig überteuert. Auch wenn man nicht auf den Cent achten muß, hat man keine Lust fast 19 € für ein Häufchen Kartoffelpüree mit ein paar Pilzen zu zahlen. Das macht keinen Spaß. Auch das Aufgeben der Bestellung gestaltete sich schwierig u kompliziert. Gewisse Gerichte gehen nur so und nicht so und überhaupt… So in der Art, ein positives Gefühl wollte sich einfach nicht einstellen. Im Bereich der Waschbecken vor den WCs lag dann, ganz hygienisch, ein Stück (!) Seife.
Ich denke es gibt bessere Optionen in Berlin.

One of our favorite restaurants when we travel to Berlin. Located in an old brewery that looks like a cathedral. As you enter you must stop at the bar to try one of their unique martinis. I chose the Mescaline Mule, so tasty! Once seated we started with a couple of bottles of red wine and dived into the menu. Starting with the beef short ribs, the pork dish, can’t place the name off hand and a cold salmon dish. Be sure to get a side order of their fries too, very tasty! Great atmosphere and beautiful models for people watching.

So what more could you want? Cute hostesses, handsome and charming bar tenders, live music, hip music, subtle and warm atmosphere and delicious food. I can only imagine how lovely it would be to dive outside in the summer beneath the bell tower.

One of the best meals we have had in Berlin. It started with cocktails from the specialty menu. The bartender was a Doctor of Mixology. He had sprays, sprigs, mists and a host of special recipes. Quite a treat to watch him work his magic.
The meal was just delicious, The wives were able to have vegetarian dishes that were quite unique. My buddy and I split the lamb shoulder. It was so tender and sweet.
We ordered all the sides, which each one was better than the next.
Can’t rave enough about the Chef and his staff, Real talented wait staff and the vibe was outstanding.

We had a nice evening out at this cool Berlin restaurant. It’s tucked away in the back of a smal courtyard. The waitstaff were young, hip and fluent in English. Wine by the glass was inexpensive. My wife started off with the bean salad, which was OK. I liked the smoked trout very much. My wife had the vegetarian quiche, which was OK. My daughter and I shared short ribs for two, which was cooked sous vide. It was excellent. We had a side of very good arugla salad. The french fries and home made ketchup were really good, too.
Fun restaurant, great vibe, good to very good food and service. I would definitely go back.

Schon sehr lange hatte ich kein so stimmiges Gesamtbild mehr von einem Dinner wie hier. Die Bedienung, das Ambiente und vor alledem die Speisen waren allesamt auf allerhöchstem Niveau.
Insbesondere das langsam geschmorte Duroc Schwein war ein Traum. Minimalistisch präsentiert, geschmacklich in der Champions League. Dazu eine große Weinauswahl bei einem lauen Sommerabend — ob im wunderschönen Innenhof oder dem stimmigen Ambiente drinnen — machen dieses versteckte Etablissement zu einem gastronomischen Geheimtipp in Berlin.

Very cozy restaurant hidden in a backyard in an old brick building. Great service, and wonderful, tasty, slow cooked meat that melts in your mouth. They make great wine suggestions and the food arrives quickly. The atmosphere is buzzing and you feel very at home here. Best meal I had in Berlin!

Mega! Das Essen (wir hatten ein Gericht der Slow Cuisine) ein Traum und der Service sehr gut und aufmerksam. Es gab sogar eine kostenlose Aufmerksamkeit des Hauses zum Geburtstag meiner Freundin… Einfach TOP

Wir waren am Freitagabend (02.05.) im Katz — als Vorspeise gab es Tatar und als Hauptgang das Duroc Schwein mit ChampagnerKraut und Wurzelgemüse.
Beides war ausgesprochen gut. Das Fleich fällt quasi auseinander und die Beilagen sind auf den Punkt. Das Dessert ist nicht der Rede wert (einziges kleines Manko) Der Service (Paul) war immer auf der Höhe — Wein wurde ständig nachgeschenkt und immer war jemand in der Nähe. Es kann sicherlich etwas lauter werden, dass ist natürlich von den restlichen Gästen abhängig welche in unmittelbarer Nähe sitzen (wie in anderen Läden aber auch) bei uns war es sehr angenehm und nicht zu laut. Die Preise gehen im Grunde auch in Ordnung bzw. kann man sich ja auch vorher über diese erkundigen… Wir können das Katz Orange nur empfehlen und kommen gerne wieder!

Super schöner Laden. Muss man gesehen haben. Aber das Essen war einfach zu teuer.
Und der Service war bemüht aber irgendwie überfordert, obwohl nicht so voll.
Vielleicht wäre Deutsch nicht schlecht. Wäre auch einfach für Personal. Englisch ist voll Ok, aber diese Internationale Nummer ist nicht passend, wenn der Service dadurch sich selbst behindert.

Bestimmt komme ich wieder auf nen Getränk mit Pommes Frites, dafür kann ich es empfehlen.

Der Service ist schlecht. Find die Idee ja nett, internationale junge Menschen anzustellen, aber diese sollten schon geschult werden. Man beachte die doch recht hohen Preise, da hat der Kunde eine Erwartungshaltung!
Wir waren mit 20 Leuten dort und wurden unzureichend und unaufmerksam bedient. Darüber, dass einige Angestellte kein Deutsch sprachen, konnten wir hinwegsehen. Jedoch nicht über die sonstige Qualität vom Service :-(
Die Lokalität selber war klasse! Das Essen gut. Pommes als Teil der Vorspeise zu servieren, empfand ich jedoch als Zumutung. Auch sonst war die Vorspeise eher mittelmäßig. Dafür war das mehrfach gelobte Fleisch beim Hauptgang wirklich traumhaft lecker!
Trotzdem: Für den Preis kann es leider nur 3 Sterne geben!

Das Katz Orange vereint für mich all das was ich an einem restaurant schätze!
1. Saisonale Karte
2. Nicht zu viele Gerichte im Angebot
3. Top Drinks (der selbstgemachte vanillesirup in den cocktails und das Soda .WOW!)
4. Guter Service
Die Locations ist auch total schön, in einem Hinterhof gelegen und im Sommer kann man toll draussen sitzen.
Wenn es sehr voll ist, kann es schonmal sein dass man trotz reservierung warten muss, aber man kann dort wunderbar an der Bar sitzen und schonmla etwas trinken– alles kein problem und stört keinesfalls dem gesamtambiente!

Se você quer um drink lindo e delicioso, esse é o lugar. O barman Flavio soube entender exatamente o tipo de bebida que eu gosto.
Comida deliciosa e se formos considerar a procedência e atenção aos detalhes a comida tem um preço muito justo.
Peça uma das carnes cozidas lentamente…

Wir hatten einen wundervollen Abend im Katz Orange! Das Personal war sehr freundlich und locker. Die Einrichtung ist so schön und gemütlich! Als später am Abend eine riesige Gruppe in der oberen Etage eine Veranstaltung hatte, wurde es ziemlich laut, aber es war noch im Rahmen.
Das Essen war sehr lecker. Alle Zutaten waren von sehr guter Qualität, phantasievoll zubereitet ohne chichi-​abgehoben zu sein. Stimmig zu Ambiente und Atmosphäre.
Wir hatten das Degustationsmenü mit Weinbegleitung. Die Weine waren wirklich köstlich (der gelbe Muskateller der wird nachgekauft) und gut gewählt. Zum Abschluss gab es für das Geburtstagkind (mich) eine kleine Überraschung, was mich natürlich besonders gefreut hat. Danke schön!

Die schlechten Bewertungen sind für mich nicht nachvollziehbar.
Alles vom Feinsten: aufmerksamer (wenn auch kein 100% professioneller) Service, tolles Ambiente und umwerfendes Essen!
Allerdings zu saftigen Preisen.
