Favourite rock bar in Berlin! Great music, friendly bartenders, and the perfect red /​black rock n’ roll interior. When I was there the door was open so I don’t think the doorbell is still a thing. They recently added a little stage for bands and stand-​up comedy, so check the facebook for events.

So, I love the bartender here. She is funny and crazy in the best way.
Not so cool is having to ring the doorbell to get in. I mean, that’s just strange…
Mostly a xberg punk place. The probably have the doorbell so that they can decide who can enter, etc. It’s just an ok place, so if they don’t let you in, you’re really not missing that much.

Lame bar where you have to ring a doorbell to get in; in order to a) create a false atmosphere of exclusivity, and b) to keep out the undesirables. Get the boss drunk one night and ask him to explain what undesirable means, you might turn out to be surprised. Funnily enough no other bar in the area needs an effing Klingel to prevent the place being burnt down by terrorists or shot up by gang members.
Drinks are nothing special. The guests range from pretty cool people who happen to live in the area to kind of boring people who like that there is at least one place in town which appears to have a selection process at the door and they usually make it through.
Tiny and smoky, my living room is seriously bigger and has better ventilation, and I make a better Caipirinha too. If you don’t have self-​esteem issues that need smoothing out by being allowed into a bog-​standard bar with a locked door, give Jail a miss.

This must be under another name, I can’t believe it’s not listed in qype. Another bar where you ring a buzzer to get in. Small, smokey (hard for those of us used to no smoking in the US) and cute with pretty good rock music playing. No one at the bar was overly friendly but if we’d been there longer, I think that could have changed. Quiet at 10:30 on a Fri. nite but a good place to pass some time waiting for a band at SO36.
