Hotel Gendarm Nouveau

Very conveniently located not far from the Tiergarten.
Bicycle rentals for 10euros a day.
Breakfast was too expensive so we skipped it.
The hotel staff was top notch– I was able to get coffee at 5am, they explained bike rentals to me, and allowed me to check in a bit early and store my luggage while I walked around Berlin for a couple hours.
We had the 5^th floor balcony room that overlooked the main strasse. We slept with the windows open because I don’t remember there being any air flow otherwise, and there were no smokers around either. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very clean. Coffee in the room is also a bonus!

Les chambres sont impeccables et très joliment décorées.
Le petit déjeuner propose un choix variépar contre la salle n’est pas terrible (elle donne sur la cour intérieure très bof bof).
Je n’hésiterai pas à y retourner en amoureux (ou entre amis).

The Hotel Gendarm Nouveau is a very, very good hotel. The location is terrific, walking distance to the Potsdamer Platz and Checkpoint Charlie, and dozens of great restaurants, cafes and bars. The atmosphere is of a boutique hotel, with a lobby that is almost too hip, sporting a tiny registration desk and fairly tart reception staff. But the rooms are extremely generous in size and quite luxurious. You do want to be sure to request an «inside» room, as the rooms facing the street are far too noisy for sleep during the warm summer months, when you must have your windows open to avoid the stifling heat. I don’t know what it is about German hotels, but for all the vaunted German engineering prowess, NOBODY in this country seems to know how to air condition a hotel. At the Gendarm Nouveau you MUST REQUEST an air conditioned room, and they are limited to the top floors of the hotel. Nonetheless, as mentioned, and interior room will serve quite well, as the windows open to a quiet courtyard so you can let in the night air. My room was gigantic by European standard, with a very large walk-​in shower AND a big bath tub, more than adequate for soaking. Comfortable beds, fast wireless internet, and an excellent breakfast buffet round out the scene. Definitely recommended.

Les chambres sont grandes, design, soignées et neuves.
chaque jour des petits chocolats faits dans la boutique à coté sont déposés dans la chambre pour les gourmands :)
ah et aussi: très bien placé, central, proche de l’avenue du shopping, d’une grande place ombragée, etc.

Nach Renovierung im März 2009 wiedereröffnet und dem Namen Hotel Gendarm Noveau.
Stilvoll eingerichtete Zimmer, leckeres Frühstück, toller Service.
Die Lage ist super, weil U-​Bahn, Museen, Restaurants, Shopping, etc. in der Nähe. Damit ein toller Startpunkt zur Eroberung Berlins — sowohl tags als auch nachts. In der Nähe gibt es tolle Bars und renomierte Restaurants wie Lutter&Wegner, Fischer Fritze und das Borchardts.
Kleines Manko: keine hoteleigenen Parkplätze. Aber das nette Personal hat immer einen guten Tipp zum Parken parat und hilft gerne, um eine vernünftige Lösung zu finden.
Mit eigener kleiner Bar, die aber aufgrund des attraktiven Umfelds wenig genutzt wird.
