This is a Curry wagon outside tegel.
When tegel closes, which is must because it is a pleasent aspect of travel and of Germany, then this lovely restaurant will move too, I can only hope. until then, try to take and make time to eat there, a 4 or 5 star cultural icon. But, I really miss it, so it must be 5 stars. for bonus points, order in german.

Hier gibt es Curry-​Wurst im S-​Bahn-​Flair. Preislich ganz ok. Die pikante Soße «Salsa» war lecker. Die Currywurst selbst war außen leider etwas trocken. Sie wurde meiner Meinung nach etwas zu lang warm gehalten. Die Wartezeit betrug ca. 15 min.

Puh… teuer isses hier… wir sind hier schon einmal gestrandet, nachdem unser «Flieger» eine gute Verspätung eingefahren hatte und wir daher auf der Suche nach etwas «essba (h)rem» in dem Imbiss gelandet sind. Hier ist immer etwas los, was vermutlich auf die Lage zurückzuführen ist und der eine oder andere ja auch die Currywurst mit dem «typisch Berlinerischem» verbindet. Die Preise haben es aber in sich und der Dunstabzug hat bei unserem Besuch auch nicht so wirklich gut funktioniert. Jedenfalls rochen die Klamotten anschließend mehr als üblich nach Fett. Ich würde hier vermutlich jedenfalls nicht mehr hingehen…

Urige Currywurstbude in einem alten S-​Bahn Waggon. Trotz langer Schlange bin ich doch recht zügig zu meinem Essen gekommmen.
Ausprobiert habe ich eine Currywurst Salsa mit Pommes. Die Currywurst hat schön pikant geachmeckt und es gab ausreichend Sauce. Die Pommes waren kross.
Die Portionsgröße war in Ordnung. Meiner Meinung nach zahlt man hier einen hohen Preis für eine Currywurst — ist wahrscheinlich der Lage geschuldet.

Lustiges Ambiente im alten Bahnwaggon. Qualitativ für meinen Geschmack eine miese Wurst mit wenig Geschmack und zu extrem und unberechtigt hohen Preisen. Ein besonderes Verbrechen ist die Salsa Soße.

Die letzte Möglichkeit auf eine Currywurst vor dem Abflug — im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. In der selbsternannten Hauptstadt der Currywurst gibt die zugegeben originelle Bude in einem ausrangierten Straßenbahnwagon kein rundherum gutes Bild ab.
Die Wurst ist klein und kaum zu schmecken, die Sauce ist ok, aber könnte mehr Geschmack haben, die Portionen sind überschaubar, die Aufenthaltsmöglichkeiten eher unhygienisch. Und ich habe noch nie, noch nie eine freundliche Bedienung erlebt. Alles echte Berliner?
Also: wer die Möglichkeit hat geht zu Konnopke in der Schönhauser Allee 44 B, 10 435 Berlin!
Aber, wenn’s unbedingt sein muss: Berlin ohne Currywurst ist wie Köln ohne Kölsch!

What a handy dandy pit stop as you’re about to depart Berlin! For us, it was perfectly situated between the bus stop and the car rentals.
The curry flavor of the sauce was on point, stronger than some other places we’d previously tried. 3,10 € each for the regular variety, fries extra.

Ganz urig, die Curry– Wurst (und anderes!) in dem Zugabteil am Flughafen Berlin Tegel ;-)
Ich bin immer wieder gerne dort, schon seit vielen Jahren.
Auf dem Weg zu dem Mietwagen– Parkhaus kommt man direkt dran vorbei.
Das Personal ist immer humorvoll und freundlich, das Essen rustikal, einfach aber lecker.

This Currywurst place is great! While it might not be the healthiest food option around, it’s great to finish off a Germany visit with something as uniquely German as Currywurst!
They’ve converted an old subway or tram car into a fast food place… and for those who understand the German language, they’ve come up with a nice play upon words: EssBahn vs S-​Bahn. The former meaning eating-​train and the latter is the word for the regional train serving Berlin and the surrounding suburbs. (Both are pronounced the same way.)
I believe they have similar currywurst trains at the other Berlin airports as well.

I had an evening flight from Tegel a couple of days ago. It departed 8:00 PM, and I needed something quick to eat. There aren’t a lot of food choices in Tegel, but this food stand right outside Terminal A did the trick.
I ordered a Currywurst Klassik, as well as a small fries and mayo, and a beer. It cost me about 8 EUR in total. It wasn’t bad, I don’t eat currywurst often so I don’t know if it was good or bad, but I definitely was satisfied. I am not sure whether the price was high or not, as I don’t have a piece of comparison for other stands in the city.
So as it was good, but perhaps not stellar, I am giving it 3 stars. I don’t mind going back here if I need another currywurst while at the airport.
