I guess D gets his love of art from his mom, who introduced me to this cool young artist. Erik Johansson creates some of the most interesting work I’ve seen recently. He’s a 21 year old photographer and retoucher who is from Sweden, now living in Germany. His work is primarily people-based and personally-commissioned pieces. His pieces are this amazing juxtaposition of real-life scenes — people, places, objects, nature — with unexpected(and usually«impossible») twists. You think you’re looking at an ocean, then you realize it’s a wooden floor being painted blue by the woman in the corner of the shot. Erik is ironing his pants on an ironing board. .. while he’s wearing them. It’s sort of Dali-esque with the surrealness(totally different shades and subjects — water slipping out of a sea picture instead of slipping clocks) and totally provacative in their unexpectedness. Some pieces will impress you with their ingenuity(like the«road» in the field) and others will make you laugh out loud(the balloon dog). You can order prints online at . I think he has a very successful future ahead!
