So I was with a companion last evening, and while we were chatting, the topic of beer came up, and since we had a couple of hours to burn before heading to a party, we spontaneously thought of getting some beer. My first choice was unfortunately closed that evening, so we decided to explore and go around the corner, and found this place, which bills itself as a traditional Berlin-style pub. We entered. There were a few gambling machines. There were TVs showing football. There were single men smoking and drinking. The lone woman was the bartender, and she was smoking too. She looked like a very fit grandma; I could imagine her doing zumba and pilates in the morning and bartending and smoking in the evening. Anyway, we just grabbed a pair of 0,5 pilsner here. I didn’t realize that the beers were very slow to pour, because there was so much froth, and it takes time to pour half a liter of it. But it was cheap. We hung out there for an hour, chatting away, while the rest of the place was smoking. Our clothes became smoky. But as much as I would like to give this place just 3 stars, it’s the old-world charm of that very fit bartender that makes me not mind the smoke so much. After all, she was very welcoming to see two English-speaking foreigners enter her pub.
