Dropped by the other day after the recommendation of a friend. The staff/owners were very nice. The bagel I had was tasty, even if it didn’t blow me away. The coffee however I really didn’t like; though plenty of people seem to be of a different opinion. I did like the cups though. The interior needs a lot of work. As it is there is too much empty space, and the place just doesn’t feel comfortable. Things are pretty new here though so hopefully the kinks will be ironed out in the coming months.

I was delighted to find a vegan café had opened up in this otherwise quiet area of town, so of course I had to check it out. And as it turns out, that was a good choice. Black Sheep is a wonderfully sweet new spot that serves vegan baked and raw goods, coffee(from Passenger and The Barn), a variety of bagel sandwiches, soup, things like kim chi and kombucha, and more. The people working there are also really lovely, and a friend and I whiled away the afternoon hours enjoying the food, music, and pleasant atmosphere. My only«complaint»(if you could call it that) is that there wasn’t much seating(when I arrived, all but one table was full). There is a lot of open space inside, and it would be cool to see that space utilized so that more people could comfortably sit. But otherwise, I really enjoyed it and will be back for sure.

I don’t say this lightly: Black Sheep is probably my new favorite café. I’m not vegan, but it doesn’t matter. They’re very accommodating for all kinds of diets, and label things very clearly. The baked goods(I’ve tried quite a few already), are superb, and the baker/cook is absolutely amazing at taking the ingredients she has to make new things. They’re constantly experimenting, but have Feinkost like kimchi, Rotkohl, homemade almond milk, etc. The coffee is excellent. Full stop. The cups are just the right size, and they use The Barn and other rotating Berlin roasters to make just simply excellent coffee. They use only alternative milks(no cow milk), but you probably won’t miss it. They have soy, almond, coconut, Hafer, and possibly more. At the café you’ll also find homemade kombucha, which is of a quality you will not find anywhere else in Berlin. It’s a real treat to have real kombucha without a bunch of additives like some German brands. The owners have basically perfect customer service skills as well, and are both relaxed, but making sure customers are taken care of and feel comfy. Children and families are welcome, they have a huge jar full of dog treats and a water bowl to welcome your pup. The atmosphere is relaxed, and very comfy, and unpretentious. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, whether you’re vegan or not. I’m looking forward to see where things go for them!
