Authentische Sri-​Lanka-​Küche. Super gewürzt. Seit Frühjahr 2016 stark erweitert. Sie haben das vorige Café rechts daneben jetzt mit angemietet und das Restaurant hat jetzt eine gute Größe. Kleiner Tipp noch: der Kiosk links daneben gehört zur Familie und ist quasi ein kleiner Asia-​Markt, der aber immer auf hat. Falls man mal die Kokosmilch vergessen hat.

Bin mindestens 1x pro Woche hier mag besonders die Lamm gerichte.
Fleischqualität super preislich etwas über dem 0815 Inder aber dafür stimmt die Qualität.
Sollte wirklich jeder mal getestet haben sehr viele Stammkunden

Ich bin hier fast jede Woche. Bedingung ist immer sehr nett und Essen immer super.
Sehr zu empfehlen ist das Kottu und das Lammcurry mit Gemüse. Aber eigentlich ist alles lecker :)
Kleines, unscheinbares Restaurant, gemütliches Ambiente. Die Preise sind echt günstig, also top Preis-​Leistungsverhältnis.

War da heute auf Empfehlung beim Essen. Kam mir alles sehr authentisch vor und war sehr lecker. Es hätte vielleicht einen Tick schärfer sein können, aber das kann man sicher beim nächsten Mal vor der Bestellung erfragen. Komme auf jeden Fall wieder.

Nope. Doesn’t cut it. I LOVE me some dosa but this isn’t it. I’ve had better out of a freezer box. I feel terrible for writing this because the staff were lovely so they get an extra point for that. But this was just too disappointing. The dosa is too thick, not that super thin crispiness that I love. The dosa is very generously filled but the filling is rather bland.

The ambience is good with light Tamil music in the background. The people working there were friendly for suggestions. The food was good srilankan Tamil food. Idly was fresh and coconut chi they was light and easy. Recommended for an easy night with friends.

Also wir waren heute zu viert hier abend essen, zur Sicherheit hat ich einfach mal reserviert, 17Uhr ist ja für Abendessen noch recht zeitig, aber lieber so als ohne Tisch. War nicht unbedingt nötig, aber der Laden ist recht klein und war meistens gut zu tun wies mir schien.
Die Kellner fand ich super nett, irgendwie ziemlich schweigsam und eher still, aber die ganze Zeit am lächeln und zum Ende gab’s auch noch einen hübschen bunten Schnaps!
So zum Essen, ich fands Klasse! Hatte einen mit Gemüse und Käse gefüllten Reisfladen — Dosa — und das findet man ziemlich selten meiner Erfahrung nach und ist einfach super lecker! Die ‘Pakoras’ meiner Schwester waren auch toll, das eine bestelle Curry etwas schärfer als erwartet, aber trotzdem sehr gut und auch der zweite Dosa hat sehr glücklich gemacht. Und die Portionen waren wirklich groß und gut. Also immer gerne wieder und bestimmt auf bald. (:

This place is cheap, the staff is friendly and the food is very decent. Not something to travel for, but if you are hungry and in the neighbourhood, it’s most definitely a good place to get a meal.

Wow — dosas in Berlin! I like this place; it is very good with service fawning over you. I ordered the masala dosa which was very adequate (and I normally have a large appetite…) At 7 euros I felt that it was a bargain, though I would have gladly paid more (ie. bargain food is not necessarily a first priority for me; quality is…)

This place is great! The chicken biryani and masala dosas were both extremely flavorful and delicious. They came with sides of two soups/​vegetable sauces, crispy spicy bread and dipping sauces, and salad. I love the laid back ambience as well. The inside and outside are both very nice and comfortable. The service was very quick and attentive. It’s really a nice place with everything needed for an overall enjoyable dining experience.

Had lunch special of a mango curry with chunks of fresh mango, and was fantastic. I was told this beforehand, and I can confirm that it does take a bit of time to get the food, but enough to let you know they are actually cooking the food a bit and not just having a single premise sauce in the back which they just add things to to make a «new» dish. It didn’t take too long, and lunch came with a soup which was creamy, simple and delicious (I think it was a pumpkin cream soup). The service was very friendly, and the prices were cheap! Overall great spot for lunch!

Nettes Personal, bemüht und reichhaltige Auswahl von südindischen Speisen. Leider sind viele Speisen mit einer dicken Mehlpampe angemacht, also nichts für ernährungsbewusste Menschen, die so wie wir weiterhin in Berlin authentische indische Restaurants suchen. Schade, aber wir geben nicht auf und suchen weiter.

We were staying a few days in Kreuzberg and looking for some Indian food and found ammAmma on Unilocal and were keen to try it out. It’s a small place with some indoor and outdoor seating. I was impressed with the quality of the food (we had the butter chicken special and a really delicious chicken soup), and the prices were amazing. It was a great find. Would definitely eat there again.

Very good Indian restaurant and god knows there aren’t many in berlin! Food and service very good. It’s a family run business!

Loved this place, I ordered take out and got the lamb masala. Absolutely delicious. The inside is quite lovely, I imagine it would be a wonderful intimate setting for a couple or small group.
They brought me delicious chai tea with milk and honey while I waited, extra points for that! This is only the second Indian place I’ve ever been to that does that. And I love chai :) definitely worth a stop if you’re looking for good Indian food in the area!

Pretty good Indian food at reasonable prices. Very minimalist décor. The mushroom curry with Indian cottage cheese was nice. The batura are pretty greasy and should be avoided.

Hätten eine Platte und waren mehr als zufrieden. Der Laden ist sauber und hat eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre, ist noch zu groß und deswegen war die Zeit dort sehr entspannt. Der Service war tadellos, alles wurde Schell geliefert.
Das Essen bestand aus einer sehr leckeren Suppe als Vorspeise, danach gab es zwei Appetizer (süß und sauer) gefolgt von den Hauptspeise (zwei Currys und einem Lamm Gericht). Die Currys waren ebenfalls sehr lecker und all in all für zwei Personen fast schon zu viel. Aber so konnte man auf Nacht nochmals einen leckeren Snack haben :)
Preislich war das ganze dann auch absolut in Ordnung, für den Geschmack und die Qualität sogar als top! zu bezeichnen.
Auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert.

Possibly the rarest of all things in Berlin: Authentic & delicious Indian food with full flavour and as spicy as you want it. The Masala dosai and Adu Chennai Karri are among the best things on the menu & both fantastic. Very friendly staff and relaxed place. Highly recommended!

Hallo, wir hatten Glück gehabt und hatten 16Uhr noch für 18Uhr reservieren können und das war auch gut so, weil das Restaurant klein und fein und zudem schnell voll ist, was den Inhaber sicherlich ärgern wird, die Speisen sind ausgezeichnet, Service und Ambiente wunderbar, also würde er sicherlich noch mehr Gäste unterbringen wollen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und konnten zudem unseren Geldbeutel schonen. Eine große Empfehlung.

We ordered a masala, paneer and chicken dosa. The food was well made but not amongst the best I’ve had. The host was friendly and helpful and the only reason why I’d go back. The dosas themselves were tasty but the sambar wasn’t my type. The ambience is nice and somewhat quiet. Though I didn’t like the Hindi music in the background. My biggest gripe with the place was the lack of backrest on the seats.

Es handelt sich hier um einen eher kleines Lokal, das meiner Meinung nach auch nicht typisch indisch aussieht. Die Atmosphäre wirkt eher spartanisch. In Bezug auf das Essen und die Bedienung einwandfrei.

It is a tiny restaurant but it I love it!
Most main dishes come with all the rice you can eat and a yummy salad. The staff is incredibly nice and the food is delicious. I had a wonderful curry and I want to come back!
The only issue I have with it is that because it is sooo small, you sit either sit on a stool or a bench. The stools are not very comfortable and if you have to sit next to the door like I did, then it can get really annoying as people keep coming and going.
The mango liquor they give you at the end of the meal is really good!
If you can, make a reservation but it’s not always needed.

I was Unilocaling through all kinda indian restaurant in Berlin to find a new one to try this Sunday. As I never really tried south Indian /​Tamilian dishes we decided to check ammAmma out .
As reading about the interior not being that special I was not surprised entering the restaurant however the very kind and welcoming waiter automatically made us feel happy and excited about our evening ahead of us.
We ordered some drinks and decided to share a mix of different starters. The waiter was really good regarding allergies and my special vegan and GF request. In the end we had the Paruppu lentil soup, a mix vege fried platter and the Bonda fired potato balls .
As my main I ordered the Kyrei Tofu Karri which was absolutely divine, its like the Indian saag paneer just an amazing vegan alternative with the tofu option win win for myself as I just to love the paneer cheese one during my non vegan days. My mum ordered the Masala Dosai which could have been easily shared between two as we did not expect this size. My dad and brother went for non veggie/​vegan choices the vaththu Jaffna karri and mutton chilli and both said it was extremely tasty, full of flavor and perfectly cooked.
If I would live in the area I defo would have found my new fave Indian take away by tonight, well one never know incase I move back this could influence my house hunting! So if you looking for an tasty and good prized Indian treat check them out and you wont be let down for sure!

Ich gebe zu, dass ich diesem Restaurant beim vorbeilaufen keine Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt hätte. Es präsentiert sich weder von Aussen noch Innen als «Eye Catcher». Ich bin auf Empfehlung das erste Mal hergekommen. Der Gastraum ist klein und wirkt eher so spartanisch und einladend wie bei einem Imbiss. Wie schön, dass der erste Eindruck manchmal täuschen kann. Wett gemacht wird diese Nüchternheit durch die Bedienung. Diese ist natürlich freundlich, unaufdringlich herzlich. Das zeigt mal wieder, dass man kein ChiChi benötigt um gut anzukommen. Mir schmeckt das Essen sehr gut — ich liebe dieses Potpourri an Gewürzen. Ich gebe zu ich kann nicht beurteilen ob die Speisen authentisch sind. Allerdings fliege ich im April nach Sri Lanka… danach dürfte es mir leichter fallen. Seit meinem ersten Besuch im Januar 2015 bin ich nun schon 4x hier gewesen… auch dank der fairen Preise kann man sich dieses Vergnügen leisten.
Den Punkt ziehe ich ab wegen der kargen Einrichtung. Lasst euch davon aber nicht abschrecken. Daumen hoch

Tasty south india food, we tried Dosa and Idli they were really tasty. People are friendlier and suggest you dishes per your taste buds.
Will go again to try south indian chicken dishes.

Awesome food, not too spicy not too soft. Staff are very friendly, the only problem is the lack of Wifi. The dishes are very reasonably priced as well.

The only bad thing I can say is that the price definition of «less than 7 euro» is not quite accurate as they have plenty of more expensive dishes.
Other than that — Nice place, good atmosphere, not the greatest location, good dish size and really good service, the kind that Berlin doesn’t have!

Wir haben kurzfristig reserviert und noch Glück gehabt. Das Restaurant ist sehr überschaubar, fast schon klein. Die Bedienung ist freundlich und zuvorkommend mit einem gewissem Humor.
Preislich kann man echt nicht meckern, sehr sehr günstig, die Getränke sowie auch das Essen.
Wir haben uns zu dritt für eine «Platte» entschieden, was wir bekamen hat unsere Vorstellungen übertroffen:
Kostenpunkt ~10 € pro Kopf
1 Sekt zur Begrüßung
gefolgt von einer leckeren Suppe
daraufhin 3 verschiedene Hauptspeisen, Reis, Brot & Salat
und eine leckere Nachspeise
Wir sind zu einem indischem Restaurant gegangen, den Unterschied zur tamalischen Küche ist mir immernoch nicht ganz geläufig, denke auch, dass kein wirklich großer Unterschied vorhanden ist, aber geschmeckt hat es allen auf jedenfall sehr gut und war mit Sicherheit nicht mein letzter Besuch!

Im Winter doch ganz schön kühl hier, auch nicht direkt gemütlich.
Das Personal ist nett. Sauberkeit könnte etwas verbessert werden.
Das Essen war südindisch (was es auch nicht überall gibt) und gut gewürzt. Das Lamm war trotz geringen Preises zart und lecker! Preis/​Leistung sind top!

This restaurant has delicious food and very nice staff. The prices are incredibly fair and the entire experience was very pleasant. My only suggestion would be for an aesthetic upgrade– the décor is uninspired– but if you are more concerned with quality cuisine I’d definitely suggest this restaurant. I will definitely come back!

When it comes to Indian Food, Seán S is someone I trust implicitly. That being said, I was more than happy to finally made it to one of the ammAmma restaurants he keeps recommending.
Tamilisches Essen ist allerdings nochmal anders als indisches, war meine erste Lektion in dem kleinen, gut gefüllten Gastraum. Tamilische Freundlichkeit ist nicht weniger gross als indische. Curry ist hier Karri und wenn da lecker steht, ist lecker gemeint :-)
Auf der Mittagskarte hatte ich schnell meinen Liebling gefunden, Lamm sollte es sein, das kam in einer traditionellen Sauce, dazu Reis und Salat und — im Mittagsmenü — zuvor eine kleine Suppe. Genau das richtige an einem kalten Novembertag. Der Nachbartisch und ich wurden gleichzeitig serviert und freuten uns gemeinsam an unseren dampfenden Schüsseln. Satt wird man hier auf jeden Fall — und ein bisschen glücklich auch!
Das einzige was ich bemängeln könnte ist die Atmosphäre, man sitzt nicht so gemütlich wie ich es mir wünschen würde, dürfte ich es mir wünschen.

Sehr freundliche Bedienung und köstliches indisches Essen.
Von außen sehr unscheinbar und nicht gerade in bester Lage, aber wer auf indisches Essen Lust hat, ist hier genau richtig.

Ich hab mir das rausgesucht, weil hier südindische/​tamilische Gerichte angeboten werden. Sicherheitshalber hab ich nach dem Schärfegrad gefragt, denn aus Südindienerfahrungen weiß ich, dass südindisch scharf viel schärfer als westlich scharf ist. Hab mein Lamm westlich scharf bestellt und es war köstlich.
Einzig die Einrichtung ist sehr dürftig. Gemütlich geht anders und ich hätte mir ein bisschen mehr Indien gewünscht, aber es geht.
Komme gerne wieder.

I had the chicken menu 155 which was really nice (spicy though. The very friendly waiter had asked me, whether spicy was ok).
I saw an Indian red wine on the menu, eager to try, but didn’t want to take too great a risk asked him whether it was any good. He recommended it and Í found it very drinkable.
My compagnon also liked hers.

Das Restaurant ist ein Geheimtip von mir.
Es ist nicht nur ein 0815 Inder, sondern ein tamlisches Restaurant.
Kenne das Restaurant, weil meine Freundin auf der Straße gewohnt hat.
Die Preise sind sehr günstig und das Essen ist köstlich.
Service? Ja recht freundlich und aufmerksam.
Alles im einem ein sehr zu empfehlendes Restaurant!

Ein kleiner süßer Eckladen in der Urbanstrasse.
Bin dort auf Empfehlung meiner Freundin mal hingegangen.
Dort gibt es sehr leckeres tamilisches Essen zum sehr kleinen Preis.
Besonders hervorzuheben war das sehr aufmerksame und freundliche Personal.
Dort werde ich definitiv öfters essen gehen.
